Mike Sowman Design Ltd was established in August 2000 to fulfill Mike’s ambition to work closer and more directly with his clients to help them achieve their project goals.
The business has continually grown since its inception through repeat business and client referrals and from its hands-on approach and the willingness to listen to our clients' needs and deliver an end product that all parties involved are proud to have been associated with. We have worked closely with and formed a strong working relationship with a team of engineers, consultants and interior designers to assist in providing a complete design package.
Mike Sowman Design Ltd has a staff of one director, full-time draughting/design staff, an office/project manager with a collective experience of over 80 years in the architectural and construction fields and has undertaken a variety work throughout New Zealand.
Mike Sowman Design Ltd prides itself on our comprehensive and accurate documentation of our projects, which assists all parts of the building process from the client through the local councils and on to the builder to fully understand the extent and nature of the project.
Mike established Mike Sowman Design in August 2000 after 15 years in the industry. Over the years in business Mike has undertaken a wide and varied range of commissions throughout New Zealand and has established long-lasting relationships both professionally and personally with many of his clients.

Following 13 years with McCoy and Wixon Architects Carl joined us in September 2012. He is a very competent and thorough architectural technician and leads our technical staff. Carl is also a highly skilled computer animator and is responsible for the high level of 3D images and animations produced for our commissions.
Jenny joined the team at Mike Sowman Design in April 2015. She has over 20 years of experience in the design industry, Jenny has worked in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom as an architectural technician for Architects.
Matt joined Mike Sowman Design in December 2013 after graduating with a Diploma in Architectural Draughting from Otago Polytechnic. Matt enjoys the learning process and wishes to grow his skill base both technically and architecturally.
Braeden joined the team at Mike Sowman Design in July 2016 having graduated from Otago Polytechnic at the start of 2016, he has a National Diploma in Architectural Technology and a Diploma in Architectural Draughting. Braeden had been working for Esecea Fires in Dunedin as an Architectural Detailer responsible for providing technical advice and producing technical details.
